Blitzen Trapper Release New EP
and Video For “Thirsty Man”
Today, Blitzen Trapper release the Thirsty Man EP & video, from their seventh studio album appropriately titled VII. Accompanying the title track are two non-album exclusives – “The Prophet” and “Plenty of Thrills”.
The video was directed by fellow Portland native Robbie Augspurger. “This video had a mind of it’s own, taking us into dark territory as usual”, says frontman and principal songwriter Eric Earley. “Nothing like a bright red high heel phone to make you long for the days of land lines and speed of light travel”.
Of the bonus tracks, Early comments “These are a couple of backwoods roadhouse jams meant to be listened to while warming up the truck at midnight”.
VII is the first Blitzen Trapper release on British indie label Lojinx and is full of the vivid folk-rock-campfire-tales Eric Earley is so well known for. In their glowing 4-Star review, Mojo Magazinestated, “At once as snug as a velvet quilt in a log cabin, yet as challenging and testing as modern architecture, VII is a signpost to a whole new direction for Americana“. Effortlessly moving from track to track, Earley paints colorful pictures of road trips and home-comings in our heads while singing along. “Thirsty Man is a song where love like rain falls in the wasteland and slips through the fingers for love is a thing that cannot be held but only felt and released,” Earley so eloquently explains.
Blitzen Trapper‘s Thirsty Man EP & album, VII, are out now on Lojinx in Europe and on Vagrant Records in North America.
